Il vit \u00e0 V\u00e9zelay (Yonne) depuis 20 ans. Il est \u00e9crivain, auteur de po\u00e9sie (souvent pr\u00e9fac\u00e9 par Bernard No\u00ebl), romans (\u00ab\u00a0<strong>Les Vents coud\u00e9s<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb chez <em>Gallimard<\/em> en 1993, \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Simploque le gitan<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb chez <em>Julliard<\/em> en 1998), nouvelles (prix Boccace de la Nouvelle 2014 pour le recueil \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Le Grand labeur<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb publi\u00e9 chez Rhubarbe en 2013) et de th\u00e9\u00e2tre (prix dramaturgie francophone SACD pour \u00ab\u00a0Little boy, la passion\u00a0\u00bb). Dans une langue toujours renouvel\u00e9e et cr\u00e9atrice de beaut\u00e9, il s&#8217;empare des grandes questions de ce monde : la guerre, l&rsquo;amour, l&rsquo;exil et la fraternit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Son dernier roman \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Des Noces r\u00eav\u00e9es ne meurent pas<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb est sorti aux \u00e9ditions La Renverse en f\u00e9vrier 2017. Le personnage central, un homme bless\u00e9, Chapital, est en qu\u00eate de Rose-Monde (est-elle vivante ? Est-elle morte ?). En tout cas, il l&rsquo;a aim\u00e9e. Ancien professeur devenu homme des bois, Chapital, d&rsquo;un \u00e2ge certain, va rencontrer une jeune fille et deux jeunes gens.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Maintenant la vie est \u00e0 inventer<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb (p. 37)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L&rsquo;action a pour d\u00e9cor la Bourgogne. Le texte s&rsquo;ouvre sur l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e de Chapital dans un village qui ressemble \u00e0 V\u00e9zelay, avec son \u00ab\u00a0<em>\u00e9glise, lourde femelle de pierre accroupie, toute en hanches<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Recueilli par le P\u00e8re Casuel, Chapital va \u00eatre h\u00e9berg\u00e9 dans la sacristie, suscitant l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat de toute la population du bourg. Miracul\u00e9 d&rsquo;un terrible incendie de for\u00eat, il reprend la route pour s&rsquo;installer aux \u00ab\u00a0Vents coud\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb, une auberge situ\u00e9e au bord d&rsquo;un canal, et tenue par Magalu et sa fille Zabelle. Chapital a alors une formidable id\u00e9e. Dans la gazette locale, il apprend que certaines \u00e9glises sont priv\u00e9es de leurs cloches parce qu&rsquo;elles sont f\u00eal\u00e9es ou hors d&rsquo;usage.
